What is BIGBLUE K1600?
BIGBLUE K1600 is a small-group, ultra-luxury motorcycle touring company based in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Eastern Cape, South Africa. It runs all-inclusive, two-up tours on BMW K1600 GT motorcycles for four pairs, eight guests, at a time, across the Eastern Cape mountain passes, the Great Karoo and the Garden Route.
How much does the tour cost, and what is included?
The tour is all-inclusive, priced per pair. As the figure reflects prevailing exchange rates, we confirm a firm quote with every enquiry rather than publish a fixed price. The price covers the BMW K1600 (provided, fully fuelled and insured), all fuel, 10 nights in hand-picked 3- to 5-star and luxury accommodation, full breakfasts and multi-course dinners, an open-vehicle safari game drive at a private game reserve, all park and entrance fees, a dedicated support vehicle and full luggage transfer, and the lead ride captain and crew throughout. A 50% deposit secures your place; the balance is due 1 month before departure. Travel to and from Gqeberha, travel insurance, personal insurance, drinks, lunches and optional excursions are not included.
Where does the tour start and finish?
It starts and finishes in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Eastern Cape, putting you on quiet, scenic coastal and inland roads from the first day. The route is a loop, so there are no one-way transfers to arrange.
How long is the tour and how far do you ride?
Eleven days and ten nights, covering roughly 1 530 km of riding. The pace is deliberately unhurried, with generous stops and one full rest day out of the saddle.
When do the tours run?
There are three exclusive departures each year: Summer (February / March), Winter (June / July) and Spring (August / September). The next confirmed departure is the “Majestic Mountain to Sea” tour, 11–21 February 2027.
Do I have to ride the motorcycle myself?
No. You can ride the BMW K1600 yourself with a valid motorcycle licence, or join as the passenger of a travel companion who holds one. If you don’t ride, bring a friend who does and you’ll ride pillion together. The tour is designed for travelling companions to share.
Which motorcycle is used?
The BMW K1600 GT, BMW’s six-cylinder grand tourer, built for long, comfortable distance two-up. Machines are provided fully fuelled and insured, fitted with panniers, with heated seats and an electronic screen for the cold Karoo mornings.
How do I book?
Send an enquiry through the form on the tour page, message us on WhatsApp, or email info@bmwk1600tours.com. We reply personally within one business day with the full itinerary, a firm quote and a provisional hold on your places, with no payment at the enquiry stage.
